Location basis
The portion of the basis that results from the difference between the delivery point of the hedged item and that of the reference underlying of the hedging item.
For example, when instruments referenced to the prices of deliverable heating oil in New York are used to hedge against an increase in deliverable heating oil prices in Montreal, there is a location basis risk involved.
